Getting Started: Program Overview

Welcome!

Families are at the heart of this program, and we thank you for making the commitment to support your child’s participation in it. Our summer program is designed to give your child the support they need to learn, while making it easy for you to help them and to get answers to your questions. During the program, our teachers will refer to your child as a “scholar.” We believe that every child has the potential to excel and succeed in life, and that every student is a scholar.

What Can You Expect?

BellXcel teachers will help your scholar build essential skills in subjects such as reading, writing, and math; they’ll also be focused on how your scholar is growing emotionally.

Here’s what you can expect throughout the program:
  • Regular interaction with teachers. Before the program starts, your teacher will reach out to you to understand what kind of communication works best for your family. During the program, your scholar will interact with a teacher regularly.
  • Independent work. Your scholar’s BellXcel Remote Learning Kit comes with workbooks and other materials for completing independent tasks, which will be assigned by the teacher. This work is designed for your scholar to complete on their own, although they may need help from you occasionally.
  • Family activities. Each day, you’ll find a family activity designed to help you navigate the social and emotional needs of your scholar during this time. At the beginning of the program, your teacher will let you know how these activities will be incorporated.
  • Star Assessment. Some BellXcel Remote programs include assessments that scholars take at the beginning and end of the program. The test at the beginning helps teachers understand what their scholars know and what they’re ready to learn next. At the end of the program, it helps us understand how much they’ve learned. Your scholar’s teacher will let you know if your program includes the Star Assessment.

What’s in the Box?

We’ve put together a collection of books and other materials that have been selected for your scholar’s grade level and the goals of your BellXcel Remote program. Have fun looking through the kit with your scholar when it arrives! Your scholar will keep these materials at the end of the program, so we encourage them to write their name in the books. We also recommend that you keep these materials together in a box or basket, so that everything stays in one place.

Once you receive your BellXcel Remote Scholar bundle, please take a few minutes to inventory your items using the Inventory Guide and report any missing items here.

Again, welcome to BellXcel Remote! We look forward to partnering with you to support your scholar’s educational journey.
